About Us:What is the Maryland Election Integrity Coalition?MD-EIC is a Coalition of some of the most prominent national and statewide organizations that have been working to reform the Maryland election system by providing Maryland voters with an accessible paper ballot, prepared by the voter, that can be optically scanned. Organizations such as Common Cause - Maryland, Maryland Public Interest Research Group, the ACLU, the Sierra Club, Democracy for Maryland and others, have come together to emphasize the scope of the demand for voting reform in Maryland. MD-EIC provides a means for these organizations to share information and research on the latest studies and reports on election reform with each other, with their membership, and with policy makers and the media. MD-EIC raises no funds, requires no dues and hires no staff. "The
real difficulty in changing any enterprise lies not in developing new ideas, but
in escaping from the old ones." We anticipate that the member organizations of MD-EIC be a resource for Legislators as they write and pass legislation to make Maryland’s elections transparent, verifiable, accessible and secure. We recognize that elections are the cornerstone for achieving all other legislative goals. Members of our organizations affirm that American democracy demands privacy in voting and accuracy and transparency in counting votes. It requires a system that produces durable paper ballots that can be recounted and archived.
The Coalition has been growing and will announce new member organizations as they join in this effort. Our website will be the repository for our educational efforts. Please visit it often: www.md-eic.org
